Coral Sea Exhibition

These school holidays, Oceanworld Manly will be home to a stunning photographic exhibition. Located on the upper level of the attraction, 'Our Coral Sea: Our Ocean Paradise' is a 30-piece exhibition that captures the iconic beauty of the Coral Sea through works by photographers such as Jurgen Freund and Mark Spencer.

The Coral Sea has spectacular coral reefs, remote islands, towering underwater mountain and deep-sea canyons. Its abundant wildlife includes whales, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and rays, sea birds, large ocean fish, swordfish and a diverse range of coals and reef fish. Unfortunately it is one of the last remaining places on Earth where populations of large ocean fish have not been drastically reduced.

The exhibition is in support of the Protect  Our Coral Sea campaign which is calling on the federal government to establish a large, world-class, highly protected marine park in Australia's Coral Sea that will provide a safe haven for marine life and recognise its historic significance. The Coral Sea extends from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park North to Papua New Guinea, and to the east by the Solomon Island and New Caledonia.

Throughout the holidays, there will be staff from the Protect Our Coral Sea organisation talking and educating customers about the issues surrounding the Coral Sea. There will also be a postcard petition available to help create the world's largest marine park.

During the exhibition there will be staff from the organisation onsite talking to customers about the issues and encouraging them to sign a postcard petition to help create the world's largest marine park.

As a special event surrounding the exhibition, on January 12, we will be running a sea creature Sandcastle making competition at Manly Cove. This competition will be free, with some great prizes!
